FREE eBooks

Here are the Free eBooks available from now until Cyber Monday!
The first book is Volume One of Sherlock Holmes and the Occult Detectives, edited by John Linwood Grant. John is one of the best editors and writers of weird fiction today which is why he will be the editor in charge of the Belanger Books line of weird fiction which begins in 2024.

Sherlock Holmes and the Occult Detectives Volume One

All New Malevolent Mysteries and Perplexing Puzzles where Sherlock Holmes works with Classic and New Occult Detectives

As Carnacki the Ghost Finder, the famous literary occult detective, once said:

“I view all reported ‘hauntings’ as unproven until I have examined into them, and I am bound to admit that ninety-nine cases out of a hundred turn out to be sheer bosh and fancy.”

In these pages, a range of contemporary authors explore 'what happens next' when the Great Detective confronts mysteries which question reason. A summons from Irene Adler’s daughter; a chance encounter with one of Houdini’s fraud investigators; the enigma of Dr John Silence. Mysterious events at Mary Morstan’s old school, and a threat to Queen Victoria. The return of the German agent Von Bork, somewhat changed, and a desperate hunt for a killer through the alleys of London with none other than Professor Van Helsing.

Join us in the first volume of this two volume anthology as Holmes finds himself working with psychic investigators old and new in pursuit of answers, and must confront his own scepticism. Tales in the traditional style – but with a twist. Can Holmes’s logic work alongside the occult detectives’ willingness to embrace another set of rules entirely? Paranormal – or poppycock?

If you like team up tales, you'll love this anthology pairing Sherlock Holmes with

Father Brown!

Sherlock Holmes: A man who needs no introduction. The Greatest Detective of them all. The Master of observation and deduction.

Father Brown: Roman Catholic Priest and Great Detective . . . Sometimes called the counter to Sherlock Holmes due to his use of intuition when solving cases.

Holmes’s career overlapped that of Father Brown, and they would certainly known and worked with one another. Now, for the first time, Belanger Books presents a new collection in their Great Detective series, solely dedicated to the shared adventures of The Detective and the Clergyman.

Seventeen new stories, ranging from one of Father Brown’s earliest investigations, in the 1880’s during the heights of Holmes’s career, to tales set in the years during and after World War I. Join us as we journey from the gaslit alleys of London to obscure and dangerous spots on the Continent – along with Dr. John Watson and Hercule Flambeau as well!

Our final FREE eBook for the weekend is a collection of new adventures featuring the Sherlock Holmes of Praed Street, Solar Pons!

The Further Papers of Solar Pons: More Adventures of the Sherlock Holmes of Praed Street

In 1928, college student August Derleth wrote to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, asking if any more Sherlock Holmes adventures were going to be published. Upon receiving a negative reply, Derleth decided to provide some of his own. However, rather than relating more tales of Holmes and Dr. Watson, he ended up introducing the world to Solar Pons and Dr. Lyndon Parker, living in London during the 1920’s and 1930’s. Pons solved crimes using deduction and ratiocination, often referring to Holmes as “The Master” or “My illustrious predecessor”. Since his first appearance, Pons has been a favorite with Sherlockians.

“Now, meet Solar Pons, the Pride of Praed Street . . .

The Master is not too visible – that is, to the naked eye. But you will feel

His dynamic presence once again . . . Yes, dear reader, but turn a page, and again – the game is afoot!”

– Ellery Queen

Over the years, public awareness of the Pons stories remained mostly within the Sherlockian community. Then, with the 2017 publication of David Marcum’s The Papers of Solar Pons, and his subsequent editing of the original Pons stories in handsome new Belanger Books editions, Pons has been known to the wider world.

“[Solar Pons is] a clever impersonator, with a twinkle in his eye,

which tells us that he knows that he is not Sherlock Holmes,

and knows that we know it, but he hopes we will like him anyway for what he

symbolizes . . . The best substitute for Sherlock Holmes known.”

– Vincent Starrett

Since 2017, there have been a number of new Pons collections, and now the August Derleth Estate, Arkham House, and Belanger Books are pleased to present this authorized collection of more Pons adventures by Sherlockian author and editor David Marcum. Join Pons and Parker in The Further Papers of Solar Pons as they venture forth into the mysterious London fogs during that murky period between the two World Wars. Along the way, meet some old friends, and discover why Pons is called “The Sherlock Holmes of Praed Street”.
