Annual Belanger Books Veteran's Day Sale Benefits Fisher House; Dear Holmes Mail Order Sherlock Holmes Stories; Holmes Away from Home Gets the Audio Treatment

Hi everyone,

Every year for Veteran's Day we always have a sale to benefit The Fisher House Foundation. The Fisher House Foundation is a nonprofit which builds comfort homes where military & veterans families can stay free of charge, while a loved one is in the hospital. Belanger Books has now donated hundreds of dollars to their cause.

What we do: For Veteran's Day, we donate a portion of our royalties to The Fisher House Foundation from all of our book sales (ebook, paperback, and hard cover). To help push sales, a select number of our ebooks are on sale for Veteran's Day only!  To help the Fisher House, please consider purchasing one of our books, or donating directly to The Fisher House Foundation at this link.

Please note that this year we are running the sale on November 12th (Veteran's Day observed).

Books on Sale

All three volumes of Sherlock Holmes Adventures Beyond the Canon are on sale for just $2.99 each on November 12th!

Description:

Sherlock Holmes himself would have us believe that, once a case was finished, it – or the people involved – never crossed his mind again. “A client is to me a mere unit,” he once told Watson, “a factor in a problem.” And yet, in a career spanning multiple decades and thousands of cases, he must have occasionally re-crossed paths with previous clients – and the occasional villain as well!

This anthology, with twenty-nine brand new stories, spread over three volumes, reveals some of those sequel investigations. There are stories ranging from Holmes’s early days in Montague Street, through the legendary Baker Street years, and well into his retirement. We meet former clients with new problems, and former adversaries too. Sometimes we find that the published Canonical version of a story was only the beginning, while other tales in this collection reveal what was really going on during the original narratives.

Join us as we return to Baker Street and discover more authentic adventures of Sherlock Holmes, described by the estimable Dr. Watson as “ . . . the best and wisest . . . whom I have ever known.”

The game is afoot!

A New Classic From Award winning Author Elizabeth Varadan - The Carnival of the Animals

Once upon a musical score, Camille Saint-Saëns was stumped. He was composing a piece of music to entertain his friends. An idea twinkled in his mind. A musical fantasy. Animals in a parade.

A tune beckoned. Camille inked in some quarter notes. The melody slipped away.

I must let this idea bloom, Camille thought.

He sat in the stuffed chair by the door and closed his eyes. Music and pictures swirled in his head: A tortoise waltzed. A peacock called. A lion stomped into a forest.

Soon Camille was fast asleep. He dreamed of animals in the zoo. He dreamed of animals far away.

Once upon a time, he dreamed…

Dear Holmes

Dear Holmes is a new Sherlock Holmes series unlike any we've seen before. Here's how it works:

A person subscribes to the series. Each week, the subscriber receives a letter in the mail addressed to Sherlock Holmes. Over the course of the month, a new letter will arrive each week which pieces together a mystery.  The final letter is written by Sherlock Holmes, and he explains the solution to the monthly mystery.

What makes these stories stand out besides their incredibly cool format is that the mysteries are written to have enough clues for the reader to solve before Holmes reveals the answers. In addition to the mysteries, there will be a contest in 2019 for people who solve the mystery before the last letter arrives.

To learn more about this series (and yes, Derrick Belanger is currently penning one of the entries), see the website here.  A gift subscription would make a very cool Christmas present!

Holmes Away From Holmes Audio Editions

Belanger Books is currently in the process of creating audio and hardcover editions of all of our books.  Up now for the audio treatment are both volumes of Holmes Away From Home: Adventures from the Great Hiatus!

Sherlock Holmes! The very name of the world's greatest detective conjures up images of Victorian London, gaslit streets, hansom cabs, and dense fogs. But there was a time, a dark three-year period, when London had to make do without Sherlock Holmes. From 1891 to 1894, he was presumed to be dead, having perished during the epic struggle with that infamous Napoleon of Crime, Professor Moriarty, atop the Reichenbach Falls. But unknown to most, even his friend Dr. Watson, Holmes survived. During those three years, he roamed the world, acting as an agent for the British government and using his very special skills along the way.

In volume one of Holmes Away from Home, the incredible two-volume collection of new traditional Holmes adventures, we find our hero crisscrossing the world - Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the US.

In volume two of Holmes Away from Homes we have a collection a collection of new traditional Holmes adventures as our hero makes his return to 221b Baker Street after traveling the world.

During this period known as the Great Hiatus, Holmes may have been in disguise, but there is no mistaking the person who Watson described as "...the best and wisest man whom I have ever known." The game is afoot!
