CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS TO THREE NEW ANTHOLOGIES (two Sherlock Holmes and one Carnacki) PLUS Our latest Kickstarter project - Sherlock Holmes and Solar Pons!

Our latest blog update features our current Kickstarter project and a call for submissions to THREE new anthologies! Read on to learn more:

The Cases of SHERLOCK HOLMES and SOLAR PONS

Throughout the Solar Pons Canon, there are references to Sherlock Holmes. For long decades, Pons fans and scholars have speculated on the connection between the two. Now, after all this time – nearly one-hundred years since the last Canonical Holmes story was published and Derleth recorded the first Pons tale – Belanger Books proudly presents the stories that provide answers.

The Cases of Sherlock Holmes and Solar Pons Volumes I and II contain eighteen new adventures by some of today’s best Holmesian and Ponsian authors:

Sean Venning, Thomas A. Burns, Jr., John Linwood Grant, Naching T. Kassa, Andrew Salmon, David Marcum, Derrick Belanger, Mark Mower, Harry DeMaio, Nick Cardillo, Thaddeus Tuffentsamer, Jayantika Ganguly, Chris Chan, Stephen Herczeg, Robert Stapleton, and I.A. Watson, with additional material by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and Forewords by Roger Johnson and David Marcum. Edited by David Marcum

Stretch Goal #1: All backers will receive the 2021 issue of The Pontine Dossier when the campaign reaches 200 backers OR $8,000 in pledges.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS! THREE UPCOMING ANTHOLOGIES FROM BELANGER BOOKS

Sherlock Holmes: Further Adventures in the Realms of H.G. Wells

Edited by Derrick Belanger and C. Edward Davis

Belanger Books is pleased to announce another collection in our series Sherlock Holmes: Adventures in the Realms of H.G. Wells!

Imagine Holmes trying to solve the case of an invisible man, matching wits with a traveler from out of time, or using his deductive skills to help fight Martian invaders. These are just some of the stories which could be included in the new anthology Sherlock Holmes: Further Adventures in the Realms of H.G. Wells. The anthology will feature traditional Sherlock Holmes stories blended with one or more tales from H.G. Wells.

Belanger Books is calling for submissions from writers, new or established, which are between 5,000 - 10,000 words (it is okay to be over or under some).

Requirements:

The stories must feel like traditional Holmes and Wells stories. The stories should have the traditional Holmes and Watson working with the traditional characters and realms of H.G. Wells. For example, a story that is a sequel to the Time Machine should have Holmes and Watson working with The Time Traveler. It should not feel like Sherlock meets Dr. Who.

The stories must use public domain material (some of H.G. Wells’ later work is also under copyright in America).

Payment: Authors shall receive a payment of $100 OR $50 plus a percentage of the Kickstarter project profits (whichever amount is GREATER) and a paperback copy of the anthology.

Rights: Authors shall retain rights to their work. We only retain the rights to the story within the publication.

Submission deadline for the anthology is June 30, 2021. Authors are welcome to submit more than one story for the anthology.

Send submissions in a word document to derrick@belangerbooks.com with the heading ATTN: SUBMISSION FOR SHERLOCK HOLMES FURTHER ADVENTURES IN THE REALMS OF H.G. WELLS

Sherlock Holmes and the Occult Detectives III

Edited by John Linwood Grant

Existing literary characters or your own inventions both welcome. Period: c.1880-1925. English language, no reprints.

Your pitch must be accepted for your completed story to be read.

Pitch Deadline: 16 April, 2021.

Final Submission Deadline: 31 August, 2021.

Payment: Authors shall receive a payment of $100 or $50 plus 1% of the Kickstarter net profits, whichever amount is GREATER, and a paperback copy of the anthology.

THE BOOK OF CARNACKI

Edited by John Linwood Grant

Core concept: A 5,000–10,000 word story featuring William Hope Hodgson’s character Carnacki the Ghost Finder in a major role. Carnacki’s general behaviour and mannerisms should be canonical, much as in the original tales. We may take a handful of stories with non-supernatural resolutions.
Also: For this particular book, we are interested in 3000–5000 word non-fiction articles relating to Carnacki and his world (see full guidelines).
Your pitch must be accepted for your completed story or article to be read.

Pitch Deadline: 16 April, 2021.

Final Submission Deadline: 30 September, 2021.

Payment: Authors shall receive a payment of $100 or $50 plus 1% of the Kickstarter net profits, whichever amount is GREATER, and a paperback copy of the anthology. The Kickstarter will run March 2022, and publication of book is expected early Spring 2022.
