2. GROUNDSWELL

This literary fiction crime drama from Dr. Eric Fritz, Professor & Chair Peace and Justice Studies at Regis University, tells the story of Julian Braxton, a high-profile attorney who left his career over his principles and resettled with his wife, Parvati, for a fresh start in New Zealand where he spends his time surfing and establishing his private investigator business. After several suspicious deaths, Julian’s curious instincts kick in, and he starts nosing around. The more he learns the more he realizes: no one can be trusted.

USA Today bestselling author Carter Wilson called Groundswell "a delicious slow-burn of a mystery novel". Look for a Kickstarter project for the book later in September.

Current Kickstarter Campaigns

Sherlock Holmes: The Ripper Dilemma

Less than 24 hours left in this campaign!!!

Sherlock Holmes faces off against the world's most infamous serial killer - Jack the Ripper! A novel of mystery, madness... and murder.

The "Jack the Ripper" murders of 1888 and the Cleveland Street Scandal of 1889 shocked Victorian London.  Few, however, realized that the two cases were linked at the very highest levels of British society.  SHERLOCK HOLMES takes it upon himself to investigate the Ripper murders and bring the killer to justice... but uncovering the truth reveals a conspiracy with Royal implications.

Does the play The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde have a connection to the killings?  What is the importance of a single copper button?  And why must a Whitechapel prostitute be trained to excel at chess?  Author Charles Blanksteen, BSI, takes the reader through the highways and byways of one of the darkest chapters in London's history.

Sherlock Holmes and the Adventure of the Found Note

Sherlock Holmes and The Adventure of The Found Note

Darkness clung to the early Baker Street morning as Dr Watson opened the front door. The night watchman held out a small slither of paper. Written faintly upon this were just two short words: “Help me”.

Sherlock Holmes must use all of his remarkable powers of deduction to identify the author of this desperate plea. His investigations lead him and his companion into a murky conspiracy - a sinister secret society plotting a fiendish scheme that could destroy the British economy and bring down the government.

From a thunderous carriage chase through the streets of London to a deadly shootout on a remote island off the North-East coast of England, can Holmes and Watson uncover the dark secret that lies within the sinister ‘Ex Tenebris’ club?  Find out by CLICKING HERE and backing the book on Kickstarter!

Sherlock Holmes and The Selected Cases of Doctor Watson

Watson is in the vaults of his bank Cox & Co. looking for a gift given to him by his wife Mary, shortly after they met. While he is there, his eye inevitably falls upon his old despatch box and he spends the following hours looking through the adventures he shared with Sherlock Holmes. After much consideration, he chooses a group of cases, all of which had a profound effect on him and decides to publish them in this new volume.

Sherlock Holmes may be the world’s only consulting detective, and the most brilliant investigator of his time, but there are other detectives in the shadows, ones who are willing to look ‘beyond humanity’ for answers. Some share a degree of Holmes’s scepticism; others embrace the spectral and ab-natural with an enthusiasm and determination which can be positively alarming.

Belanger Books return to the world of the occult detectives, with a further two volumes of Sherlock Holmes tales concerning matters which do indeed appear to be inexplicable by any normal standards. The canonical Holmes and Watson are on the trail in twenty brand new cases of murder, mystery, and lies. And as you might expect, they find themselves – willingly or unwillingly –accompanied by stranger bedfellows than usual.

In these pages, a range of contemporary authors explore what happens when the Great Detective confronts mysteries which defy even a slipper of shag tobacco and the vibrant tones of the violin. A child’s body appears – and disappears – on the remote Dorset coast; a cardinal dies in mysterious circumstances in the Vatican, and a death at a country house offers a locked room mystery with no natural explanation. From Calcutta to Carshalton, from Suffolk to South Kensington, deceptions are practised, bodies are inexplicably mangled – and souls may well be in peril.

For Volumes Three and Four, Holmes finds himself at odds with Bram Stoker’s Harkers, exasperated by the hapless Gerald ‘Budleigh’ Salterton, and intrigued by a Mlle. Castaigne, who suggests that a terrible use has been made of the Lumière brothers’ photographic innovations. Was there really ever a play called ‘The King in Yellow’? He meets for the first time the gifted Mrs Hudgins, and once again encounters the talented Miss Trelawney, amongst others. Margaret Murray, the famous real-life anthropologist, has a puzzle for him on the Nile during the Great Hiatus, whilst in London, Holmes crosses the paths of more historical figures in the shape of spiritualist Tennessee Claflin and her sister Victoria Woodhull. And what is he to make of Vernon Lee’s Lady Tal, never mind Aleister Crowley’s Simon Iff?

Join us as Holmes works with psychic investigators old and new in pursuit of answers, and must confront his own scepticism. Tales in the traditional style – but with a twist. Can Holmes’s logic work alongside the occult detectives’ willingness to accept another set of rules entirely? Are their proposed solutions paranormal – or poppycock?

Once again in old London, "the game is afoot." In these pastiches of the Sacred Writings, written when he was nineteen and twenty, August Derleth has recreated the London of Sherlock Holmes. It does not matter that the familiar name has become Solar Pons, or that the familiar Baker Street has become Praed Street — something of the nostalgic charm and fascination, of the remembered quickening of the pulse and the familiar settings of the original London of Sherlock Holmes, has been recaptured in these pages. And what intriguing titles there arc to these twelve pastiches, chosen from among a greater number! Here are "The Adventure of the Frightened Baronet" — about a spectral image of Siva seen at a country estate beyond London; "The Adventure of the Purloined Periapt" — which is the purest of pastiches and perhaps the closest of all the tales in this book to the original spirit; "The Adventure of the Norcross Riddle" —containing some of the neatest deduction in the book; "The Adventure of the Man with the Broken Face" — a tale of "dark waters"; and eight others. "No doubt," writes Vincent Starrett in his Introduction, "we — and by we, I mean those frantic and incurable Sherlockians who, with August Derleth, deplore the paucity of canonical entertainments — should rather have more of the great originals, but we accept the imitations, faute de mieux, to satisfy a normal appetite. And we accept them with enthusiasm. They are the work of affectionate minds and hands. There is no intention to deceive. These stories, and others in their field, are intended only to please. They are nostalgic reminders of vanished days and nights in Baker Street."
